Two white basketball jerseys were draped over empty chairs at the end of the bench.
Both jerseys, one a Glen Oaks jersey and the other an LSU jersey, bore the familiar number 25 worn by Shannon Veal.
It would have been her senior night. Instead, those on hand for the Thursday night game with Live Oak watched as Veal’s number was retired a week before the one-year anniversary of her death.
